Just the Facts
Rolfing gets its name from its creator, biochemist Ida Rolf, Ph.D. She developed her work by studying osteopathic manipulative medicine, yoga, and the effects of her efforts to help her family and friends with their injuries. Today, 60 years later, there are over 1,550 Rolfers around the world.
Rolfing seeks to create better structural balance through the entire body by targeting unnecessarily tight muscular and connective tissues so that healthier movement patterns can become possible again.
Rolfing is typically experienced in a series of sessions of approximately an hour in length that focus on eliminating the dysfunctions in the body that lead to symptoms like pain, anxiety, and fatigue.
The following pages will help you better understand what Rolfing can do for you and how to get started on the track towards better health and performance.
